- Do you also buy Cartier watches with quartz movements?
- In principle, yes. Many Cartier models were made with quartz movements, such as the Panthère, the Must de Cartier and smaller sizes of the Tank, Santos and Ballon Bleu. The movement is taken into account alongside model, size and material. We also appraise quartz Cartiers that have stopped. Please leave the case back closed; we check the movement during the inspection.
- Is my Must de Cartier made of gold?
- Usually not. The Must de Cartier generally has a case of gold-plated silver (vermeil); on many pieces the case back is marked “925” or “Argent”. A solid gold case typically bears the 750 hallmark there. If in doubt, send us photos of the dial and case back; the appraisal is free of charge.
- Can I sell my Cartier without box and certificate?
- As a rule, yes. Box, certificate and purchase receipt affect the offer, and a complete set usually works in your favour. If they are missing, the offer rests on the examination of the watch itself; old invoices or service records help. With Cartier, the reference and serial number are generally engraved on the case back – a photo of them makes identification easier right from the first appraisal.
- My Cartier has diamonds that were added later – will you still buy it?
- We are glad to appraise it. Stones set after the fact rarely increase the value of a Cartier and can even reduce it, because the bezel, dial or bracelet had to be altered. The watch is then valued mainly as a Cartier. If you still have the original parts, please bring them along.
- The leather strap is worn – should I replace it before selling?
- No. Leather straps wear out with use; there is no need to buy a new one first. What matters more is the original Cartier buckle or deployant clasp; on gold watches it is often made of gold itself. Bring it along, even if it is no longer on the strap. A non-original strap is no obstacle either – simply mention it in your enquiry.
- What do I need to bring to sell my Cartier?
- Bring whatever you still have for the watch: the box, however worn, the certificate, purchase receipt and service records, removed bracelet links and an original clasp if the strap has been replaced. We also need your identity card or passport. Appointments can be made via WhatsApp or by phone.
